Who’s Eyes Are You Looking Through?

ACTS 9:1-18

I always try to relate the word to either my life or the lives of others. In particularly women because that's what I know best.

We walk around with our eyes open but cannot see. My heart goes out to women who want to open their eyes but don’t know how. I understand why the Scales are still on. So I have to go back to, when my scales were taken off. When I decided to trust God, FULLY.

I remember, I went to a women’s conference and it lasted for 3 days. Many of the speakers had awesome testimonies. It made me realize how minimal my situation really was in comparison, but one Pastor in particular stuck with me because she said the very words that I needed to hear. She said, “God told me to tell you to take your hands off! Not one hand but BOTH!” I said, “Oh My” because that was the problem I had. I did not FULLY put my trust in God’s hands. I still tried to keep my hands on situations and circumstances thinking that I was supposed to fix it. Because as a Single Woman and mother, that’s what I always did. I wasn’t blind, I saw all too well, but I was looking through my OWN EYES. I was trying to fix everything with my own hands. And at the time I thought that was the right thing to do.

Many of us always ask the questions: What is wrong with these men, why can’t they just do right? Why do they feel like they have to dog us?....I have a question for you Ladies…why are you looking for him to do right when you are not fully recovered to know the difference? The situations you are in will constantly repeat themselves until you realize that YOU CAN’T FIX IT!

Let me get back to Saul. Jesus did not put scales on Saul’s eyes so he would get upset and NOT trust him. What would you do, if someone you didn’t know blinded you??? (You do know that Saul did not know Jesus, you do know that he was a persecutor of Christian’s, women and men, he did not care) I’m just saying….but nine times out of ten I would say you would be a little upset. Like when YOU were blindsided, you DO KNOW Jesus and you are a little upset, you are asking “WHY”…why am I being treated this way. But I believe Jesus put scales on Saul’s eyes so that he would FULLY trust him. Same way he put scales on you.

When you are blind you need to be able to trust your footing, you need to be able to know the ground you walk on is solid. Doesn’t the song say, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand” Saul had men with him along the way, leading him by the hand to his destination, but he still could only trust in the words of Jesus telling him to go into the city and at that appointed time he would tell him what he should do. He had to put ALL trust in the Lord.

But when did God remove the scales? ACTS 9:11&12: Ananias, who lived in the city of Damascus was told by the Lord to find Saul on the street called Straight and when he found him he would be PRAYING…. The word mentions that Saul saw a vision of Ananias coming in, laying his hands on him and he would receive his sight. Let me say it again…Saul was blind but he saw a vision. The vision he saw was not with his own eyes but through the eyes of God…

I have a story: Whenever my daughter wanted to learn how to ride a bike, we bought her a nice purple bike (her favorite color) with a basket, a horn and training wheels. She was so excited, it was her first bike, but when she got on it to ride it, she could not steer it in the direction she wanted to go. So she kept falling off of it. So she decided she wanted to stop going through falling again and again and again. When she was ready, to try again a couple of years later she asked me to buy her another bike but she didn’t want the training wheels, she wanted my husband to hold it because she knew that he would not let her fall. He would maneuver and guide her correctly until she got it right! She put ALL her trust in him!!

That is how God wants us to be. You may fall over and over and over again until you realize that he is the the only one we need to put our FULL trust in..He is the only one that will guide us in the direction we need to go. Then and only then will he allow the scales to be removed. At that appointed time you will see what God has for you because you are looking through God’s eyes.
